Your database is the most critical asset of your business

Customers, orders, invoices, contracts, history — everything goes through the database. When it goes down, everything stops. When it's exposed, everything leaks. The question isn't whether you can afford a sovereign database — it's whether you can afford not to have one.

Why your database deserves special attention

A web server restarts in seconds. A front-end gets redeployed. But a corrupted, lost or compromised database can mean weeks of crisis — or even the end of the business.

Data loss = business shutdown

The database is the foundation of your ERP, CRM, billing, logistics. An unmanaged outage can paralyze all your operations in minutes.

Data subject to foreign law

Hosted on an American cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), your data is subject to the CLOUD Act and FISA 702. US authorities can access it without your consent or that of a European judge.

Vendor lock-in

Hyperscaler managed services use proprietary formats, non-standard APIs and closed replication mechanisms. Migrating becomes a project in itself — if it's even possible.

CLOUD Act, FISA 702: your data on AWS or Azure is not sovereign

The CLOUD Act (2018) allows US authorities to demand access to data stored by American companies, regardless of the hosting country. Even an AWS server in Paris is subject to this law.

The FISA Section 702 authorizes mass surveillance of non-Americans' communications. Databases hosted on US cloud providers are legal targets of this surveillance.

The Schrems II ruling by the CJEU (2020) invalidated the Privacy Shield and confirmed that data transfers to the United States do not guarantee an adequate level of protection. Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) are a legal patch, not a technical solution.

The only reliable protection is structural: host your data with a European operator, on European infrastructure, subject exclusively to European law.

Sovereign MariaDB: the RDEM Systems answer

A database managed in France, by French experts, on French infrastructure. Without technical compromise.

100% French hosting

Your MariaDB databases are hosted in Equinix datacenters in the Paris region (Île-de-France). The network infrastructure is operated by RDEM Systems on its own autonomous BGP network AS206014. No data transits through a foreign operator.

Native GDPR compliance

No complex contractual clauses, no transatlantic transfers to justify. Your data stays in France, operated by a French company. Compliance is structural, not contractual.

MariaDB: open source and dependency-free

MariaDB is a free SQL engine, with no proprietary license. Unlike Oracle or SQL Server, you don't depend on any vendor. Your database belongs to you — the code, the format, the data.

Reversible infrastructure

No proprietary format, no closed API. Your data is in standard SQL format, replicable and exportable at any time. If you leave, you take everything with you — no hidden extraction fees.

A complete sovereign ecosystem

The database doesn't live alone. RDEM Systems offers a complete, 100% French infrastructure to host your entire stack:
